Operations Technician (posted on August 24, 2016)
NPT seeks a part-time Operations Technician to operate computer-based master control automation systems, video servers and associated routing and monitoring systems. Ensures that all on-air playlists are loaded and configured correctly and that all programming meets the technical requirements for air. Regularly monitors and checks broadcast feed for compliance with NPT quality standards. Maintains the official discrepancy report and other documentation as required. Troubleshoots technical problems with automation, servers and other systems; responds to alarms; assists with hardware maintenance and installation; assists with studio equipment setup and operation. Performs traffic duties, dubs, and other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications: Associates degree or any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from a two-year college program. Strong computer database/report skills. Experience working in a television environment preferred. Familiarity with television master control, traffic and traffic operations, equipment and software. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

NPT provides unpaid internships for students who are interested in gaining hands-on experience in television production and equipment operation.
Internships may be tailored to meet specific areas of interest. However, the basic focus of the program is behind-the-scenes production work, providing students with experience in both live and taped shows. The internship also includes non-broadcast related activities, such as studio set-up and maintenance.
- Run prompter
- Edit weekly promos and other non linear editing
- Grip and studio set-up work
- Assist on field shoots
- Log interviews
- Other production related tasks as time permits
Motivated and committed individuals will benefit the most from this program. A positive attitude and a willingness to learn are essential.
First preference is given to college students who need credit hours.
IMPORTANT: Candidates must be available for at least two 5 hour blocks of time during normal business hours.
