Assistant Program Manager

Nashville Public Television (NPT) seeks an Assistant Program Manager. This position reports to the Director of Content and is responsible for working with the Director to create the broadcast schedule on NPT and all multicast channels as well as other distribution platforms. This includes scheduling interstitials on NPT’s two channels, programming grant related interstitials into the schedules to meet project requirements. The Assistant Program Manager is also responsible for working with other stations to encourage the scheduling of NPT productions and presenting station projects.
Requirements include computer literacy, Bachelor’s degree with humanities concentration, experience in television production, programming, and/or audience/market research, preferably in educational/public television. Familiarity with the public broadcasting system, with emphasis on its programming and producing standards and practices preferred. Ability to understand and apply syndicated audience research.

TV Production Internship Opportunities
The deadline for Summer 2015 internships is April 24, 2015.
NPT provides unpaid internships for students who are interested in gaining hands-on experience in television production and equipment operation.
Internships may be tailored to meet specific areas of interest. However, the basic focus of the program is behind-the-scenes production work, providing students with experience in both live and taped shows. The internship also includes non-broadcast related activities, such as studio set-up and maintenance.
- Responsibilities include:
- Studio camera operations
- Prompter operations
- Non linear editing
- Grip and studio set-up work
- Assist with electronic field production
- Other production related tasks as time permits
Motivated and committed individuals will benefit the most from this program. A positive attitude and a willingness to learn are essential.
First preference is given to college students who need credit hours.
