We’re extremely proud to announce that Nashville Public Television took home a station record nine Midsouth Regional Emmy® Awards last night, Saturday, January 24, 2009, at the 23rd Annual Midsouth Regional Emmy® Awards ceremony and banquet at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. The awards are presented by the Nashville/Midsouth Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS).
Among the notable wins were two for the original documentary, Beautiful Tennessee: Our Scenic Waterways, which took home statuettes for best Cultural Documentary, and tied for best Writer/Program (Non-News). The latter award goes to the program’s writer, Will Pedigo, who also directed.
Hugh Brian O’Neill continued his history of Regional Emmy® wins with one for Writer/Short Form (PSA/Promo/Commercial) and two going to his entries in the Promo Spot/Programs (Non-News) and Promo Campaign/Programs (Non-News) categories. The winning “Nature/Minkin Girls” campaign is made up of three spots showcasing four sisters from the Nashville area who love nature and the PBS show NATURE.
Christmas at Belmont 2007, NPT’s capturing, in 2007, of Belmont University’s annual Christmas concert, snagged an award for editing in the Special Event category.
Perhaps most thrilling was the win in the Children’s Programming category for It’s Farmer Jason, a series of educational music videos starring Jason Ringenberg as Farmer Jason.
Producing partners and programs that aired on NPT also took home Emmys®. Jumpin’ Time, starring The Time Jumpers, a concert special that aired on NPT and was presented by the station to public television stations throughout the country via American Public Television, picked up the awards for best Arts/Entertainment program and Best Editing (Non-News). It was produced by the Crosswind Corporation. Janet’s Planet: “Health Interstitials,” produced by Janet Ivey and John Hussey for Janet’s Planet, was named best Information/Instructional series. Tennessee’s Wild Side: “Machine Falls,” produced by the Renaissance Center, tied for best Photography/Program (Non-News).
Congrats to all the winners. And a special thanks to you, dear reader and viewer, for continuing to watch and support us.
