For this edition of Volunteer Gardener, we explore new landscaping ideas for the plantings nearest the house. With some planning, these foundation plantings can include annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees. Then Troy Marden sees how good design can create several garden rooms in one backyard. And Annette Shrader shops for trees that boast vibrant fall color.
