Dividing Perennials
Marty demonstrated how to divide the following perennials (best done in very
early spring): hemerocallis (daylily), sporobolus 'prairie
dropseed' (grass); Tiarella (foam flower); and the root divisions
of dodecatheon (shooting star).
Marty recommended reinvigorating the new plant divisions with SuperThrive,
found at most good garden centers or through A. M. Leonard at www.amleo.com
Down the Garden Path
Margaret Siegrist's garden, toured by Troy, is one of the eight gardens
featured on the Down the Garden Path annual tour, presented by the
Middle Tennessee Lupus Foundation chapter. Tour tickets are $20 or
$15 in advance. Buses will be available for touring most of the gardens
and will board from the corner of Honeywood Avenue and Belle Meade

in the wonderful world of gardening. Annette Shrader shows
kids how to grow their own signature plant using lettuce seed; and Julie
Berbiglia highlights a summer camp for
junior master gardeners; Catherine Darnell tours a
showcase garden in Leiper's Fork that's a perfect complement to the showcase house
it surrounds; Tammy Algood reviews the many different types
of salt on the market and explains the best use for each; and Jeff
Poppen demonstrates his method to a great watermelon crop.

Junior Master Gardener Summer Camps
Davidson County - Open to children ages 9-14 years. Camp dates are June 14th
through the 18th, 9am to 3pm. The camp is held at the UT Agriculture Extension
office at Ellington Agriculture Center. The fee for the week of camp is $50.

Williamson County - Open to children ages 8-11 years. Camp dates
are June 7th through the 11th. The camp is held at the Williamson
County Agricultural Exposition Park off I-65 at Exit 61 (Peytonsville
Road) in Franklin, TN. The fee for the week of camp is $40 and
is limited to 45 participants. For more information or to register,
