Part-Time Producer

Reporting to the Executive Producer & Sr. Director of Content, this part-time position creates and/or implements assigned production projects. The part-time Producer creates, produces, and post-produces long and short-form content for on-air and digital distribution.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Works independently and collaboratively to provide NPT with creative, efficient, and high-quality content that educates, engages, and inspires our community.
  • Works with hosts, talent, and community participants with the utmost editorial integrity.
  • Conceptualize, create, plan, and budget available resources to produce long and short form programs, program segments, and other production projects.
  • Champions inclusion and creates content that respects and reflets the rich diversity of NPT’s audience.
  • Create and develop program concepts in concert with internal/external clients and stakeholders. Prepare proposals and scripts.
  • Develop and determine requirements for sets, graphic elements, production staff and facilities needed in a creative and cost-effective manner.
  • Execute approved projects in an effective and creative manner by creating, selecting, and combining audio and visual elements into an effective video presentation. Determine and directs the activities of the production team regarding visual composition.
  • Provide information to and coordinates activities with programming, development, and promotion staff.
  • Evaluate project-related activities and personnel to ensure maximum quality and efficiency in the production effort.
  • Fulfill administrative requirements including scheduling, payroll, regulatory matters, program rights, payment of bills, and such other administrative reports and duties as may be required.  Ensure necessary production records, reports and files are maintained.
  • Respond to project-related viewer requests and comments.
  • Represent the organization in community and professional activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge/Skills & Abilities: 

Demonstrate creativity, writing skills, leadership, supervisory skills and abilities. Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Forms or Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms). Experience in Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro. Demonstrated experience in producing educational content preferred. 

Education and Experience:  Bachelor’s degree with concentration in journalism, history, or political science, preferred. Minimum three years’ experience producing broadcast content for television and/or digital production involving studio, remote, field, production, and post-production activities preferred.

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required (up to 15 lbs.), filing documents or storing materials throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques required. For the most part ambient room temperatures, lighting, and traditional equipment as found in a typical office environment.
