McMinnville is the county seat of Warren County and was named after Joseph McMinn, a governor of Tennessee. The original town village was located in Tanyard Springs but moved to its current location when founding fathers decided that the area was not suitable as a county seat. Noted McMinnville natives include composer and musicologist Charles Faulkner Bryan, country music singer Dottie West, and US ambassador and political journalist Carl Rowan.

Please donate, become a sustaining member or increase your monthly giving to keep local programs like Tennessee Crossroads and Volunteer Gardener on the air.
