"July 24, 1970 was a big day in our town. My Momma's favorite singer was Connie Smith. She came to play for the Choctaw Indian Fair for a fellow named Bob Ferguson, her producer. I was in love with Connie Smith's album covers. I thought she was so pretty and I had my Mom take me to buy a yellow shirt that day so she would notice me. She never did so I asked my Mom if I could borrow her camera. One last ditch attempt I went and flashed in her face and that was the first picture I ever took. On the way home I told my Mom I was going to marry her and I did."
